TL;DR Article Summary

2026 is finally here. If you’re dusting off last year’s ambitious resolutions for another attempt, we respect the optimism. If you already crushed them and you’re aiming higher this year, even better.

After a busy 2025, we have some new goals of our own here at Skedda.

Our focus is clear: making Skedda even better at what it’s meant to do. Last year, we delivered meaningful improvements in areas like data security and office presence. This year, we’re doubling down on what teams rely on every day: a smoother booking experience, stronger collaboration tools, and smarter integrations.

Workplace needs keep shifting, but the direction is consistent – more flexibility, more control, and less friction. Our goal for 2026 is to keep building a space management system that scales with your organization and adapts to how you share seats and resources.

Here’s a preview of what’s coming.

Booking Requests & Approvals

We’re kicking off the new year with a major release: booking approval workflows. Skedda’s rules and roles engine has always given you proactive control over who can book what. Now you’ll also have the reactive flexibility to step in and approve bookings when it matters.

You’ll be able to turn approvals on for a select set of high-value spaces, or require approval for every booking, it’s up to you. With granular approval rules, you can tailor Skedda to your exact needs so only the right people book the right spaces at the right times. Every request lands in a new approvals dashboard where admins can approve, deny, and track bookings across your venue in one place.

Booking Approvals is currently in beta and slated to be released later this month. For early access, reach out to your account manager.

Zoom Conferencing Integration

Flexibility when it comes to meetings is essential. Most workplaces are some flavor of hybrid now, which means you’re constantly juggling in-person meetings and remote access without turning every booking into a logistics puzzle.

That’s why we’re introducing the ability to add Zoom meeting links to Skedda bookings. Once your Zoom admin account is connected to Skedda, you can choose Zoom or your calendar’s default conferencing option when you create a booking. Attendees will see both the space location and the video link in the invite, so everyone can join the same meeting whether they’re on-site or dialing in from elsewhere. That’s what “modern workplace” is supposed to mean: fewer gaps, more options, better collaboration.

Skedda’s Zoom Integration is currently open for early access and will be released in the coming month. To get access, reach out to your account manager.

Visitor Management Enhancements

The best offices aren’t just for getting work done; they’re also the perfect place for welcoming guests, hosting clients, and collaborating with partners. We want Skedda to be the easiest place to manage all of that. So this year, we’re adding lots of new functionality to our visitor management suite, including:

  • Visit Types – Categorize the types of visits happening at your venue, making visitor analysis and check-in customizations more robust
  • Badge Printing – Integrate Skedda with visitor badge printing hardware
  • Photo Capture – Reliable check-in identification for anyone visiting your building

These enhancements will be rolled out in the first half of 2026.

Team Collaboration & Scheduling

Coordinating in-office days shouldn’t require a Slack thread, a calendar poll, and a prayer. This year, we are working on making it easier to see who’s planning to be in the office and when, so teams can line up time together without the back-and-forth.

Stay tuned for more details later this year.

AI Insights

We get it, looking at dashboards is supposed to make things clearer, but sometimes they turn into a confusing and tedious mess. In 2026, being able to understand and communicate your space data matters more than ever, so we’re upgrading how you work with data in Skedda in a big way.

Our most exciting release of the year is the AI-Driven Insights Agent. Through a chat-based interface, you’ll be able to visualize trends, get practical recommendations, and pull reports from your booking and utilization data in seconds. That means less time wrestling dashboards and more time optimizing space and proving your case to leadership.

2025 Release Highlights

While we are “all systems go” for 2026, it's worth taking a look back at how Skedda has evolved and improved over the past year. Space Management, Office Presence, and Security & Data were our focus areas in 2025. Here is a quick recap of what launched!

Assigned Spaces

Perhaps our biggest release of the year, Assigned Spaces make Skedda even more adaptable to any and all flexible work environments. Now, you can configure any space in Skedda to be one of two categories: bookable or assigned. When a space is assigned to a user, it is closed to bookings and shows up in the system under the user’s name.

While Assigned Spaces are meant to be used by a single person, they are by no means permanent. That’s the beauty of them. Admins can toggle a space as bookable or assigned at any time, depending on their capacity needs and hybrid policies.

Over the course of 2025, we saw our customers mixing and matching Assigned and Bookable Spaces in so many awesome ways, transforming Skedda into a fully interactive seating chart for wayfinding, space bookings, and capacity planning. We cannot wait to see how else you utilize Assigned Spaces in 2026!

Space Insights Dashboard

To accompany our release of Assigned Spaces, we also launched a brand new dashboard for Spaces Insights. This new dashboard gives you an intuitive breakdown of space types across your venue, including:

  • Total space count (bookable vs. assigned)
  • Assigned space status (assigned vs unassigned)
  • Top user tags across all assigned spaces
  • Top space tags across all assigned spaces

Looking ahead to 2026, demand for data is on the rise. Flexible workplaces are evolving, and we are doing the same to make sure our users have what they need. Granular data from the Space Insights Dashboard help you not only get a clear understanding of your organization’s seating policy, but it also helps you make confident decisions about how to manage and reallocate space optimally.

Language Localization

In 2025 we said hola, bonjour, and hallo to our newest language options – Spanish, French, and German! Now, Skedda users can book desks, meeting rooms, and shared spaces and resources in the language they’re most comfortable with, making the booking process more intuitive and inclusive.

But things didn’t end with in-app translations; we also rolled out translation support for all email notifications as well as a language selector for visitor tablet displays. As modern workplaces continue to expand across borders and cultures, we plan to enhance our languages and customization settings in the coming year.

SCIM Integration

We also introduced support for SCIM provisioning this year so IT can stop babysitting user access like it’s a houseplant. Add someone in your Entra ID or Okta directory and they show up in Skedda – it’s that simple. Any and all user profile updates in your identity provider will also sync perfectly with Skedda. Removing a user from your directory? They’ll be instantly deactivated in Skedda. SCIM provisioning keeps access secure, streamlines onboarding, and keeps user information consistent across systems.

The practical magic: groups in your identity provider map to Skedda user tags, so the right people get the right space access and booking rules from day one automatically. With Entra ID and Okta already supported, we’ll be adding support for more identity providers in the coming year.

Auto Check-In

This year, we also celebrated the highly anticipated release of WiFi-based Auto Check-In – putting an end to the “I forgot to check in and lost my reservation” drama. Once someone is verified as “seen-on-site” via an IP match on your office network (either by actively opening Skedda or by passively running the mobile app), Skedda automatically checks them into their bookings, cutting down on lost reservations, keeping availability honest, and tightening up utilization data.

Skedda’s Auto Check-In introduces a streamlined check-in process experience for users and cleaner, presence-verified reporting for admins, without extra hardware or petty policy-policing.

Custom Admin Roles

We added more depth to permissions and user roles in 2025, reinforcing Skedda as one of the most flexible platforms out there for managing complex space rules. Custom Admin Roles let you give someone full booking admin power over specific spaces without handing them the keys to your entire venue. You simply scope a custom role (like “Clinic Room Coordinator”) to particular spaces and/or space tags, and designated users can create, edit, and cancel bookings for others only within that defined footprint.

The result: fewer space-management bottlenecks, and way less chance of a permissions mistake where the wrong person edits the wrong booking. Custom admins can easily spot the spaces they manage via a key icon across booking views.

SOC 2 Certification

At Skedda, we take data security seriously. To formalize and independently validate our security program, Skedda became SOC 2 Type 1 & 2 certified in 2025.

What it means for our customers: encryption at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+), role-based access with MFA, continuous monitoring/threat detection, and resilient backups with geographic redundancy. In short: your workplace data always gets real, tested protection.

Other notable releases

Beyond our major product highlights from 2025, we also came out with several small but mighty improvements that make space management even easier for all our users:

  • All-day Booking Options: This new feature adds an “All-Day Booking” checkbox to your booking form, streamlining the process for reserving spaces for an entire day. System admins can set the checkbox to be default checked or unchecked, depending on your organization’s needs. The feature can also be selectively enabled for specific spaces, offering greater flexibility and customization.
  • Precision Filtering: We enhanced the way you search and discover spaces in Skedda with a new filtering experience across all booking views. You can now filter by multiple space tags to easily locate the perfect workstation. Use the new Quick Filters dropdown to search by one space tag at a time for faster resulAfter a busy 2025, we have some new goals of our own here at Skedda. are now unified in a single intuitive menu that streamlines the filtering experience. After a busy 2025, we have some new goals of our own here at Skedda.
  • Check-in Push Notifications: Now, when a booking window opens, users can check in instantly from a push notification through the Skedda mobile app. No hunting for links or digging through emails. Just tap, confirm, done.

Building a better workplace

2026 is shaping up to be a big year for Skedda. From approvals and integrations to smarter visitor flows, collaboration tools, and AI insights, we’re building toward a smoother, more flexible workplace experience across the board.
