Ryerson University + Skedda
Navigating a safe return to study during the pandemic
Ryerson University, one of Canada’s top universities, selected Skedda to manage the bookable shared desks at its state-of-the-art Student Learning Centre.
In late 2015, Toronto’s Ryerson University opened their much-anticipated Student Learning Centre. This uniquely-designed facility caters to thousands of students each and every day. Since its opening, the new campus landmark has become the university’s most popular hub. As the Covid-19 pandemic hit in the early stages of 2020, Ryerson required a solution that allowed students to safely return to shared study spaces. Skedda provided the university with a streamlined platform to manage space bookings while automating previously time-consuming logistical tasks.
“Opening the Ryerson Student Learning Centre for the Autumn term amidst a pandemic required a host of new procedures, including the ability for students to reserve dedicated study space for when they needed a quiet place away from home to focus.”
Ryerson University customizations include:
- Custom interactive maps
- Single Sign On for seamless platform access
- Booking quotas
- Space availability based on student user types
- Custom T&Cs to correspond with safety measures
“Skedda provided our students an intuitive map-based reservation system across the different floors of the SLC. Skedda stood above and beyond other applications we looked at, particularly in the way it allowed us to set specific business rules to ensure Ryerson students had fair access to all our spaces, as well as maintain accurate records of who has entered the building. Our students have adopted it seamlessly, and are confident and assured they have access to a safe and secure environment for their studies.”
