We’re excited to share a look back at what we have released in 2024 as we move into the second half of the year and peek at what is coming soon at Skedda!
2024 has been another big year for us. Our team has been working tirelessly to ship features that not only meet your current needs but also prepare you to tackle the evolving landscape of hybrid work. This roadmap reflects our commitment to innovation, meeting the needs of our users, and upholding the quality of our product to ensure it works for you day in and day out without compromising on security or usability.
Skedda's Three Pillars of Growth
As Skedda grows, we have identified three pillars of growth that serve as the foundation for our product innovations in 2024. We prioritize features based on customer needs and how well they fit within these flywheels:
- Collaboration: In hybrid work, in-person collaboration is the key to motivating people to come into the office regularly. It’s not free lunch or coffee. Employees feel motivated to come in when they get the space they need to collaborate. With that in mind, Skedda is focused on launching features that facilitate in-person interactions and create spaces for collaboration.
- Space Management: Space Management is the core of our product. We’ve been focused on helping organizations effectively manage space since 2012. This pillar of growth is focused on continued investment in our core product, including creating more granular controls and an even more powerful booking engine so that all of your users are in the right place at the right time with the right tools they need to flourish. Skedda’s automations and rules streamline shared space management, so employees can focus on what matters.
- Office Presence: Hybrid work is the future. This change in how we work has introduced new needs for measurement and reporting tools. This pillar of growth is focused on improving our reporting and measurement capabilities to ensure that customers have the best tools at their disposal to optimize their hybrid work experience.
Product Innovations So Far
This year, we launched a whole new product (Visitor Management), improved our native integrations, and launched a series of smaller feature improvements. Our roadmap for the first half of 2024 focused heavily on collaboration, making it simpler for people to come into the office and to foster face-to-face conversations—whether it be with teammates or visiting clients. Some of our biggest launches so far include:
- Visitor Management: The launch of our Visitor Management product earlier in the year added new functionality to our system, streamlining the visitor registration process, and creating a single source of truth for understanding all the different types of users that need access to your building. Read about Actum Digital’s success in implementing Visitor Management.
- Slack and Microsoft Teams Integrations: Skedda is now in the apps where your team gets their best work done. Our integrations with Slack and Microsoft Teams enable in-person collaboration to flourish by making it simple to check who is coming into the office that day. For example, to find out when marketing team members will be in the office, simply ping the Skedda chatbot in Slack or Teams and get an answer instantly. - Two-Way Sync with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace: Skedda now supports two-way calendar sync with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. This means that bookings made on Skedda are automatically reflected in your calendars, and vice-versa. You can even book meeting rooms directly in your calendar. Meetings made on one app automatically appear in the other one, avoiding any risk of double bookings here. Learn more about our two-way calendar sync with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
Looking Forward
The rest of the year includes exciting releases as we move to increase launch velocity and grow our feature set to satisfy the needs of our expanding customer base. In the second half of the year, we are focused on the Space Management and Office Presence flywheels, bringing to life products that expand the functionality of our core product and provide a deeper visibility into how a space is being used.
Collaboration
- Team Schedules: The best feeling with hybrid work is showing up to the office when all your close collaborators are there. With different teams having different schedules, coordination can be tough. For 2025, Skedda has features under consideration that will focus on simplifying these hybrid work challenges.
Space Management
- Space Attributes & Tags: You know and love Skedda’s User Tags, and now we welcome Space Tags into the Skedda rules and roles engine. Space Tags allow you to organize your spaces by whatever attributes you choose (e.g., Engineering Team, Dog Spots, or Executive Meeting Rooms). Users will be able to quickly filter by space tag types to find the right space for them.
- Assigned Spaces: Hybrid work doesn’t always mean hot desking. This feature update will make it simple to assign spaces to unique users so that Skedda not only serves as a booking platform but also helps your users find each other on a map—even when they are not actively booking their desks.
Office Presence
- QR Code Check-In: This much-requested feature is finally here! Soon, Skedda administrators will be able to download and print QR Codes that can be placed on desks to allow for QR code-based check-in and booking. QR Codes function as both a visual reminder to check in and a way to ensure that users are checking in from a physical location.
- Wifi-Based Occupancy Tracking: Ghost bookings are the worst—and this new Skedda feature is out to end them. When a user with a Skedda booking interacts with Skedda from your office Wifi, they will be marked as either “Seen in Office” or “Not Seen in Office.”
